Tesla's Flat-Pack Model S Sedan With 17-Inch Touchscreen Demo

An excellent tour of the Tesla Model S touchscreen panel.  A Tesla staff member shows us how all car controls are “baked” into the single panel.  She demonstrates media control, and the google map.  She reveals that it will ultimately have turn-by-turn directions.  She suggests that car is now 3g but will switch to 4g if available and stable.  Shows that it will ultimately have a backup camera.  Suggests that it may have its own built-in hands-free phone.  Demonstrates view of power usage and regeneration.  Also demonstrates iPhone controls, including climate control.

Tesla Motors CEO, Elon Musk, defends Tesla Motors against skeptics who have been shorting the stock.  He makes valid points.  Compares Tesla’s position to similar computer industry giants.  Elon Musk describes Tesla Motors as a a “hardcore engineering company.”  He also makes references to how the “competition” is buying drivetrains from Tesla Motors!

Here we have a close and personal view of the exterior of a Tesla Model S in Signature Red.   Thank you mirk83 for uploading this video.   This video is, however, a bit too quick and since the vehicle is roped off, it’s recorded as  the videographer attempts to circumvent obstacles so its a bit shaky.

Lucky for us that the driver of a Tesla Model S lets this nice woman (who also happened to have seen the car at the factory tour) sit in the driver’s seat and experiment with the dash.  Prior to that, we get a nice side-view of the vehicle.  We get a close glimpse of the dashboard as well.  She says “This is amazing; if I bought a car, I would get this.”

If you ever wondered how Tesla assembles their Tesla Roadster, this video gives you a great inside the factory look at how its done.  DC energy from the battery gets converted to AC current for the motor.  Coolant consistently flows through the battery to keep the battery cool.
 

Tesla Motors In a Shopping Mall

If you don’t have a Tesla store in a mall near you, then this is your opportunity to see one from afar.  This video doesn’t offer much other than the view from outside.  Nevertheless, its a very cool concept which reminds me of Apple’s strategy in opening their own stores.
